Bayern Munich is currently managed by Hansi Flick, who has been in charge of the club since 2019, replacing Niko Kovač. He has won six titles with the side so far, including a UEFA Champions League trophy. Meanwhile, Joachim Löw has been associated with the German national team since 2004.

In what might come as a surprise for many Bayern Munich fans, reigning manager Hansi Flick has decided to step down from the role at the end of the ongoing season. His decision comes after Munich was knocked out in the 2020-21 UEFA Champions League quarters by Paris Saint-Germain last week.

Flick joined the club during the mid of the 2019-20 season, replacing Niko Kovač. Since then, he has managed to help the side win six titles, including the UCL.

Speaking on his intent to leave, Flick said, "I told the team that I informed the club during the week that I want out of my contract at the end of the season. It was not an easy decision for me. It was important that the team heard it from me."

"I want to give my thanks and compliments to the club for giving me the opportunity to coach such a team. I have discussed things internally with those responsible. The reasons will remain internal for now," he added, reports AFP.

As for a reason for his leaving, the report adds that there could be some tensions between Flick and the club's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic. Apparently, it could have been owing to some decisions on player recruitments.

Meanwhile, reports also suggest that Flick could be eyeing the German national team coaching role next season. Current national coach Joachim Löw has confirmed that he would be stepping down from the position following the UEFA Euro 2020.

Earlier, current Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann were the front-runners for the national job before both ruled it out. While Flick hasn't confirmed anything regarding the same, he said it would be an option he would be willing to consider after talking with national team director Oliver Bierhoff.
