But fret not anymore, as we bring you post-festive detox tips so as to burn all the calories and feel good about yourself once again. The main aim is to take your time to adjust, replacing unhealthy snacking.

Avoid sugar intake: Post Diwali, avoid taking artificial sugar-laden food as there’s a need to remove sugar from the diet in the form of sucrose, bread, refined flour, sugar and flour-laden western desserts, etc. Instead opt for natural sugar like fruits, veggies which also provide fibre. More importantly, you must also refrain from consuming processed and oily foods which will just increase water retention and gradually build up the fat cells.

Keep yourself hydrated: It is a must to Hydrate yourself well for a few days from now and consume 3-litre plain water every day. To have adequate fluid in the body to flush out the toxins through urine and sweat, you must drink at least 8 to 9 glasses of water every day to keep your body maximum hydrated.

Yoga and exercises: A refreshing start to the day means detoxifying your body. Start with a mild workout to avoid muscle soreness or start your day with yoga. Doing breathing exercises and five Surya namaskars every morning on an empty stomach can help your body. Also, keep moving during the day in the office or take a stroll before lunch to improve the circulation of blood in the body.

Fibre foods: You have been probably missing on fibre these festive days, so loading your lunch and dinner with fibres such vegetables, especially cruciferous ones like spinach, kale, broccoli, sprouts, etc is a must. This way will relieve you of bloated feeling as you will have more bulk and your stomach will clear better.
 

Avoid meat and follow proper eating habits: Post Diwali, keeping your meals light to put the least pressure on your digestions is very important. Hence opt for plant protein and avoid red meat which is difficult to digest. Also, following a timely routine of eating and sleeping will keep your health in good state. Try eating before sunset or have your last meal of the day four hours before sleeping.

Adequate sleep: It is important to get a total of 7 to 8 hours of sleep for adults. A good sleep allows the brain to invigorate and energise itself, as well as remove toxic wastes. Hence, an adequate amount of sleep is important in any detox plan.
