Just a few days to go before Diwali begins. The preparations are in full swing as everyone is gearing up to celebrate the festival with enthusiasm. Everyone is involved in home renovations and planning Diwali parties. As Diwali celebrations go on for a week, it is important to pay extra attention to what you consume. Try avoiding calorie-laden sweets, which will increase your chances of getting health issues.
We are not telling you to skip the Diwali sweets, but surely you can add a healthy twist to the same, which will not make you feel guilty. Opt for a milk-based dessert-like shrikhand, rabri, sandesh, mishti doi which can be made without a lot of hassle.
Instead of having Kaju Katlii go for Badam Katli or choose Besan Ladoo, which has a high source of protein. You can also go for Rava Ladoo or have Mysore Pak, which has high protein content over coconut ladoo. You can also eat Carrot Halwa or Dudhi Halwa which has a rich source of antioxidants and vitamins.
You can also try some unconventional sweets like Dates Sesame Ladoo, Oats Dates Nut Ladoo, Walnut Ladoo, Methi Kheer, Dudhi Kheer, Apple Sheera, Fruit Kheer, Papaya Halwa, Beetroot Halwa, Carrot Kalakand, Oats Pancakes with Cranberry Syrup or Blueberry Syrup or Chocolate Syrup, homemade protein bars, Apple Pie, Pumpkin Pie, fruit Yogurt, seeds Chikki (Pumpkin/ Sunflower/ Flaxseed), if you are really health conscious. Always keep in mind portion size. If you are opting to have thought of having Gulab Jamun, see that you reduce the portion size. This way you will keep the calories in check. Try having fruit salad which is low in calories, will keep you full and save you from adding extra kilos.
