However, amid this excitement, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has issued an important clarification regarding rumours of ‘free metro travel for RCB fans’ circulating on social media.

Clarification On Social Media Claims Regarding Free Metro Travel

In an official statement, BMRCL said that the information claiming metro travel is free is completely false and misleading.

Some private individuals and organisations had circulated posts and advertisements on social media falsely claiming that RCB fans in Bengaluru would be allowed free travel on Namma Metro on the occasion of the IPL final scheduled for May 31. The claim spread quickly online and created confusion among the public.

Key Clarifications Issued By BMRCL

No Free Travel For Anyone: BMRCL has not announced or approved any scheme to provide free metro travel facility to RCB fans or any other category of passengers on May 31, 2026.

No Authorisation For Unauthorised Promotion: BMRCL has not granted permission or official recognition to any private individual, institution or organisation to advertise or promote claims that metro travel will be free.

Ticket Purchase Mandatory For Metro Travel

Ticket Purchase Mandatory: It is mandatory for all passengers to purchase a ticket as usual to travel on the metro. Passengers are required to travel using a smart card, QR ticket, NCMC card, or any other travel medium approved by BMRCL.
