On Sunday, SC East Bengal pulled off a surprise 2-1 win against Jamshedpur FC in the 2020-21 Indian Super League, at the Fatorda Stadium in Bengaluru. With this win, SCEB has risen to the ninth spot, while Jamshedpur stays on seventh.
The opening half saw the first attack in the second minute, from Jamshedpur FC. Nonetheless, three minutes later, Matti Steinmann handed SCEB the lead with his header to the top-right, from the centre, following a corner assist from Narayan Das. Seven more attempts followed, but to no avail, as SCEB managed to hold on to the lead at the half-time break.
The second half saw three attempts until the 62nd minute, while Jamshedpur goalkeeper, Rehenesh TP came up with a save, following by an effort from Nerijus Valskis hitting the post. Nonetheless, five minutes later, Anthony Pilkington doubled it for SCEB, through his right foot to the bottom-right from the right flank, thanks to Steinmann's assist.
A couple of more attacks ensued until 78th, while an attempt from Pilkington hit the post. Nevertheless, a couple of minutes later, Peter Hartley pulled one back for Jamshedpur through his close-range header to the top-right, following Ricky Lallawmawma's assist.
There were three more attempts made, while the final attack saw SCEB goalkeeper, Subrata Pal coming up with a save. It allowed SCEB to stick on to its lead and just manage to walk away with the three points at the end of the full-time whistle.
