Bengaluru FC continued its winless streak, as it succumbed to a 1-2 defeat at Kerala Blasters FC's hands in the Indian Super League 2020-21, at the GMC Stadium in Goa, on Wednesday. With this win, Kerala has risen to the ninth spot, while Bengaluru stays on seventh.
The opening half was off to an attacking start, with six attacks coming up within the opening 21 minutes, including a couple of saves from Kerala goalkeeper, Albino Gomes. Nonetheless, just a couple of minutes later, Cleiton Silva put Bengaluru ahead with his right-footed strike to the bottom-left from the centre, following an assist from Rahul Bheke.
Three more attacks followed, including a save from Gomes again. Nonetheless, Bengaluru managed to hold on to the lead at the half-time.
The second half saw six attempts being made until the 72nd minute, including a save from Bengaluru keeper, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. Meanwhile, at the same minute, Lalthathanga Khawlhring levelled it for Kerala with his right foot, to the bottom-right, in a close-range effort, thanks to Gary Hooper's assistance.
It was followed by seven more attacks until the 93rd minute, including three saves, while a couple of them came from Gomes. Nevertheless, the same minute saw Rahul Kannoly Praveen handing the host the lead at the stroke of full-time, with his right-footed shot to the centre from the right, while Gary Hooper came up with the assist, as Kerala stole one from the visitor.
