ISL 2020-21: 10-man FC Goa holds off Kerala Blasters

This was Kerala Blasters FC's fifth draw of the 2020-21 Indian Super League, as along with three wins and five loses, it rises to the seventh spot. Meanwhile, it happened to be the fifth draw for FC Goa as well, while with five wins and three loses, it stays on the third.

On Saturday, Kerala Blasters settled for a hard-fought, yet fascinating, 1-1 draw against FC Goa in the Indian Super League 2020-21, at the GMC Stadium in Goa. While Blasters has risen to the seventh spot, Goa stays on the third.
The opening half saw five attacks until the 22nd minute, as Jorge Ortíz's opening strike hit the post in the fifth minute, followed by a save from Blasters goalkeeper, Albino Gomes, in the 16th. Nonetheless, in the 24th minute, Ortíz finally found the back of the net with his right foot, from a set-piece, to the bottom-right.

It was followed by another attack from Ortíz in the 34th minute, to be denied by Gomes. Nonetheless, Goa maintained its lead at the half-time break.
The second half saw an attacking approach from Blasters, with a couple of attempts within the 48th minute. Nonetheless, eight minutes later, Rahul Praveen drew level through his header to the bottom-left, six yards from the left, following Facundo Pereyra's assist.
A couple of further attacks followed, while in the 64th minute, Goa's Iván González was shown the second yellow card of the game and was eventually sent off. As Goa switched to a defensive mentality thereon, Blasters managed to develop a couple of attacks in the closing stages, to no avail, as both the teams shared the honours at the full-time whistle.
