West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee likely to present state budget in Legislative Assembly

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is going to present the state budget in the upcoming session of the Legislative Assembly. In this regard, Finance Minister Amit Mitra and Assembly Speaker Biman Bandyopadhyay have also taken permission from Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar. 

There are rumors in the political arena that this courtesy of the government towards the governor is a rare moment. The state budget may be presented in the assembly on Friday (February 5).

The state government will present the vote on account as there is an assembly election this year. Finance Minister Amit Mitra has said that the budget will be presented in accordance with the tradition.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the doctors advised the Finance minister no to go out of home. Therefore, he has written a letter to the governor stating that he would not present the budget this year.

The application has also been granted by the governor. On the other hand, according to experts, if the finance minister cannot read the budget for any reason, another minister can also read the budget.

However, it is rare for the state chief minister to read the budget. But the CM has the power to decide who will read the budget. Therefore, it remains to be seen if Mamata Banerjee will present the state budget this year in the upcoming session of the Legislative Assembly.
