The Government of India has decided to celebrate the birthday of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose as 'Parakram Diwas' every year.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has long been talking to the Center about declaring a national holiday on Netaji's birthday. But the central government did not care much about this. Significantly, the Center chose to dedicate a day to Netaji just a few months before the Bengal Assembly elections.
