In the previous 24 hours, India recorded 16,156 new COVID-19 cases and 733 fatalities, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Furthermore, the country reported 17,095 recoveries in the previous 24 hours, raising the recovery rate to 98.20 per cent, the highest since March 2020. With 733 more deaths, the death toll has increased to 4,56,386. The weekly positive rate for the preceding 34 days is 1.19 per cent, which is less than 2%. The daily positive rate is 1.25 per cent, which is less than 2% during the last 24 hours.
The daily increase in new coronavirus infections has been fewer than 30,000 for 34 days in a row, and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been recorded for 123 days in a row.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, the total number of samples tested for COVID-19 through October 27 is 60,44,98,405 (including 12,90,900 samples examined on Wednesday) (ICMR).
Meanwhile, the countrywide COVID-19 immunisation effort has resulted in the administration of 104.04 crore vaccine doses.

The top five states that have registered maximum cases are Kerala with 9,445 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 1,485 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,075 cases, and West Bengal with 976 Andhra Pradesh with 567 cases.
Around 83.85 per cent of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 58.46 per cent of the new cases.
