The Trinamool Congress on Friday (January 15) slammed the Bhartiya Janata Party and said that if the party comes to power in West Bengal, the state will drown in river Ganga. The TMC also claimed that all central government projects are flawed and have been unsuccessful.

The BJP promised to turn West Bengal into ‘Sonar Bangla’ if it comes to power. TMC MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy mocked this statement and said that the BJP-led government at the Centre has barely fulfilled any of its promises.

Sukhendu Sekhar Roy alleged, “If BJP comes to power, then surely Bengal will drown in the Ganga, as all programmes and projects of the Centre have typically flopped, bearing no results.”

Roy also alleged that the law and order situation in BJP- ruled states is "horrible", as was evident during the recent incidents in Hathras and Balarampur.

Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his promise of Rs 15 lakh in everyone's bank account in the counter after the demonetisation, Sukhendu asked “What happened to these promises?”

The war of words between the TMC and the BJP has intensified as the assembly polls are approaching. Sukhendu Sekhar Roy claimed that the TMC has brought development in West Bengal and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has restored peace in the state.
