The Trinamool district leadership of Hooghly has been under a lot of pressure before the assembly election due to sectarian tensions, 'disharmony' of several leaders including MLAs in the district. In this atmosphere, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee will hold a meeting at Pursurah in Hooghly on Monday (January 25).

In the meeting, the main aim of Mamata Banerjee will be to unite the party and bring it to the battlefield. However, the Trinamool Congress was in a state of discomfort before Banerjee’s meeting.

According to sources, Prabir Ghoshal, a 'dissonant' Trinamool MLA from Uttar Para, is not going to be present in the meeting. The Trinamool MLA alleged that he was not invited in the meeting.

It is alleged that the party did not even call a preparatory meeting before the meeting. The MLA of Uttar Para has been raising his voice against the party for several days.

Prabir Ghoshal alleged, "Road construction work has been deliberately abandoned in the panchayat area under his constituency. It is very difficult for two-wheelers and four-wheelers to drive on the road. People cannot even walk on the road.”

“We have complained to the government about the condition of the roads but no response came. I was annoyed and forced to open my mouth in public this time as there was no work to be done.”

Reacting on Prabir Ghoshal’s allegations, TMC leadership said, “Prabir Babu does not work for the party. He is not present in most of the meetings. He is sitting in the position of an MLA like a king.”

Party leader's quarrels have become a source of headache for the TMC. In the last Lok Sabha elections, the Trinamool has somehow survived the 'standard' in the Arambagh Lok Sabha seat. The Trinamool candidate was trailing by about 26,000 votes in the Purshura assembly constituency. This year, people are waiting to see who comes in power in the Hooghly district.
