Suvendu Adhikari moves Calcutta HC seeking police protection

BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari filed a petition before the Calcutta High Court on Wednesday (December 13), seeking police protection in view of alleged aggression and attack on him by TMC workers.
 

Suvendu Adhikari joined the BJP last month. After he joined the saffron camp, he claimed that he has been the subject of spiteful aggression launched by TMC.

In the court petition, Adhikari wrote that he needs full-proof security including security arrangements at the places of his visit for holding public meetings and on his travel routes.

Suvendu Adhikari mentioned in his petition that he has been appointed the chairman of Jute Corporation of India, a post equivalent to the rank of a Union cabinet minister. Therefore, he requested for a full-proof security.

On Saturday (January 9), Suvendu Adhikari’s office at Nandigram in East Midnapore district was ransacked by alleged TMC workers.

Adhikari, a former TMC heavyweight and a former minister in the Mamata Banerjee-cabinet, had won from Nandigram constituency and has resigned from the post last month.
