Mamata Banerjee attacks BJP on CAA and NRC issue

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee again spoke about CAA and NRC in a meeting. After the BJP came to the state of Tripura, the Chief Minister claimed that the situation was very bad. Mamata Banerjee alleged that the BJP was destroying Bengal as well as Tripura.
 

The Chief Minister also lashed out at the Central Government for suspending the CAA before the Bengal polls.

Referring to Tripura, the Chief Minister said, "Go and visit Tripura. The BJP promised to stabilize 10,000 teachers. But their permanent jobs have been taken way. Go to Assam and see how many people have been killed in the name of NRC.”

“The BJP has taken all the seats in North Bengal, they have taken all the seats in Jangalmahal, what has the party given to the people?” The CM threw questions at everyone present at the meeting.

The Chief Minister slammed the BJP on the NRC, CAA issue. Mamata Banerjee said, “Now, the BJP is saying that the CAA and the NRC have been suspended for the time being. But the law has not been withdrawn. Therefore, we are saying we will not let the CAA and NRC happen. We are all citizens.”

The idea of offering citizenship based on religious identity yielded huge dividends for the BJP in West Bengal in the 2019 Lok Sabha election. The saffron party bagged 18 of the 42 seats from this eastern state and clocked over 41% vote share.
