ISF, secular parties to be part of Left-Congress alliance in Bengal: Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury

 West Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Tuesday (February 16) said that Abbas Siddiqui’s ISF and several other parties will be part of the Left Front-Congress alliance for the upcoming West Bengal assembly polls.
 

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the Left-Congress alliance has already finalized their seat-sharing deal. However, he said the seat-sharing equation would not be announced now as several new parties wanted to join the alliance.

However, several parties, including the ISF, have expressed interest in joining the Left-Congress alliance. As a result, the equation of seat sharing is not being announced right now.

Left Front chairman Biman Bose said, “"In the upcoming 2021 assembly elections, we will fight as an alliance of the Left Front, Congress and the Indian Secular Front.”

Not just the ISF, the RJD and several other smaller secular parties will also be accommodated in the alliance, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said.

The process of Left Congress alliance has gained momentum since Adhir Chowdhury became the President of the Provincial Congress. The two sides had already finalized the seat agreement for 193 seats. It was decided that the Left would contest 101 seats and the Congress 92 seats. However, the final form of the seat agreement is remaining to be declared.
