If the BJP comes to power in West Bengal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah promised to change the name of Thakurnagar station. Shah promised that the BJP chief minister would send a proposal to the railway ministry to change the name of the station within a week of coming to power.

On the same day, Shah said, BJP wants to change the name of Thakurnagar station to Sridham Thakurnagar. But the role of the state is important. The Centre cannot change the name of the station unless it receives a proposal from the state.
