16 Made-in-India Kalyani M4 vehicles for UN peacekeepers

The Quick Reaction Fighting Vehicle (Heavy), indigenously manufactured by Bharat Forge Ltd, has been put through extreme vehicle trials in some of the toughest environments in the country. The trial locations included the deserts of Rann of Kutch and the freezing terrains of Leh and Ladakh.

Bharat Forge Limited on Tuesday dispatched 16 Made-In-India Kalyani M4 Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to the Indian Army for United Nations Peacekeeping deployment.  The state-of-the-art Kalyani M4 APCs provide unprecedented levels of protection to occupants against threats like landmine blasts and grenades.

The Kalyani M4 can carrying an infantry platoon in full combat gear.

The Kalyani M4 has combat radius of approximately 800 kms, in all types of terrain. Equipped with modern military-grade powertrain, Bharat Forge claims that the Kalyani M4 is the best mobility platform available in the world today. The company has, in the past, delivered variants in the form of command post vehicles and ambulance to the Indian Army. 

Recently, the Indian Army's Northern Command inducted the Kalyani M4 to its armoured vehicle fleet under emergency procurement amid the China-India border standoff. The vehicle can withstand up to three 10 kilograms of TNT charges under the wheels and one 50 kilogram Improvised Explosive Device explosion at one side.
