There has been a sharp rise in the prices of the vegetables in the last 10 days, by Rs 11.56 per kg, as mentioned by the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Distribution.
Among them, the onion prices have soared up so high that people are scared to touch it. All-India retail market price of the onions has risen to Rs 51.95 per kg. This happened because of the excessive rainfall which caused a shortage in production.So, let’s just focus on how we can dodge the onions and yet make finger-licking good food. Here are seven recipes of that kind:
Sabut Matar ki sabzi: It is a recipe of matar or peas, cooked well in some interesting spices like mango powder, chaat masala, asafoetida, and coriander leaves with others. So, it doesn’t need any onions to enhance its flavor.
Paneer Makhni: Paneer Makhni is a creamy flavorful gravy recipe. The recipe has been derived from North India. It has every flavor except onion and garlic. Though, if you wish you can add a pinch of garlic paste, but it tastes better like that.
Aloo Paratha: It is a recipe for a flatbread stuffed with potato filling. It is an Indian breakfast. The potato mixture is made with mashed potato, some spices, and coriander leaves. Then it is stuffed inside the flatbread to cook in oil till it’s crispy.
Makhmali Kofte: This is one of those recipes that will melt everyone’s heart. Khoya is the main ingredient in this recipe. The Kofte are cooked in ghee and to make the creamy texture of the gravy, there is no need to use onion and the taste will make sure you finish till the last drop in your plate.
Kadhai Paneer: You might think that Kadhai Paneer cannot be cooked without onions, but try this flavorful gravy recipe without onions for once, you will fell in love with. Top it with some dhania patta (coriander leaves).
Paneer Bhurji: It is a mixture of shredded paneer, tomatoes, and some other spices, and cooked together till it is well combined. It is a North Indian dish which has no onion in it. Best served with rotis.
Kashmiri Dum Aloo: It is a spicy dish where baby potatoes are cooked in simmered gas flame (dum cooked) and for the gravy, a flavorful and spicy curd mixture is used. No, onion is needed! It will be a sour-spicy gravy textured food. The recipe is derived from Kashmir.
