Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar's latest release, Bell Bottom, has received rave reviews from fans and critics. Especially for Lara Dutta's character, where she played the role of Indira Gandhi.
In an interview, Akshay revealed that he only suggested Lara's name for the role to the makers. Kumar also added that Lara thought he was playing a prank on her.
However, the film Bell Bottom was not released for Akshay's fans living in several Gulf countries. It is stated that factual errors in the movie were why countries like Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait ban the film in their countries.
As per a report by Bollywood Hungama, the second half of the film shows the hijackers taking a plane from Lahore to Dubai. A similar incident took place in 1984. United Arab Emirates (UAE) defence minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum personally handled the situation, and UAE authorities caught the kidnappers.
However, on the other hand, in the movie, it is shown several Indian officials were portrayed as the leads in the case, including the character played by Akshay Kumar in Bell Bottom, which keeps UAE defence ministers in the dark about their operations.
Besides Lara and Akshay, the film also features Adil Hussain, Vaani Kapoor, and Huma Qureshi. The film was released in theatres this year. The censor board of Middle-Eastern nations has objected to it and therefore, it has been banned.
