Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra launched his autobiography, The Stranger In The Mirror, where he mentioned Sonam Kapoor's role in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and her remuneration which is very shocking.

In 2013, Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor played the role of Biro, in the biopic of Milkha Singh, played by Farhan Akhtar. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra directed the movie Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, and it was a blockbuster.

In Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's autobiography The Stranger In The Mirror, co-authored by Reeta Ramamurthy Gupta, he mentioned many interesting facts from his filmmaking journey. He wrote in the book about Sonam Kapoor how Sonam agreed to do Bhaag Milkha Bhaag for Rs 11 only. The actress had earlier worked with him in 2009 Delhi 6 featuring Abhishek Bachchan.

Both Rakeysh, Sonam enjoyed working with each other, and he decided to get her on board for his next Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. However, she had a brief appearance in the film because the film was focused on Milkha Singh, played by Farhan Akhtar.

According to Bollywood Hungama, Rakeysh had once said that Sonam lit up the screen every time she appeared in the film.

He also praised Sonam in his book,“Sonam understood that the film was not a love story it was about a Partition survivor’s with his horrific childhood. Also that Isri Kaur, the sister, was his only connection to a past that he was reluctant to both own and discard."

Rakeysh further wrote, “She chose to accept Rs 11. She had a special appearance in the film. Both of us shared an amazing journey with Delhi 6 before that. She told me that she is needed for just 7 days for the shoot and she praised us for trying to say something so beautiful, about the partition of this country and the spirit of Milkha Singh. So she wanted to contribute to the film as well. It was very nice of her.”
