A six-year-old boy, who was kidnapped on Friday (July 24) by those who posed as health workers in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district, have been arrested.

On Friday, the boy was kidnapped from near his house and bundled into a car. A few hours later, a woman called the family and asked to pay a ransom of Rs 4 crore for the boy's release.

The family was also warned not to approach police, else the boy would be killed, said the lady over the phone.Soon the family filed a complaint with police and a special task force was formed. Based on the caller location and information, police reached Para village in Gonda and the culprits were about to shift the boy, but were stunned to see a police team.

While two tried to escape, the police opened fire in which two people, Umesh Yadav and Deepu Kashyap, sustained bullet injuries in their legs and are undergoing treatment at a hospital.

As per reports, Prashant Kumar, Additional Director General (Law and Order), said in all five persons were caught. The other three nabbed were Suraj Pandey, his wife Chabbi Pandey and younger brother Raja Pandey. All the accused are aged between 19 and 23 and are residents of Gonda.In the operation, police have found that the arrested have no previous case and recovered a car, allegedly used in the crime, and three pistols from the accused. The investigation is underway to find out the involvement of others in the kidnap for ransom case.
