PV Sindhu, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty reach quarterfinals of French Open

PV Sindhu has displayed a satisfactory performance to reach the quarterfinals of the ongoing French Open. Also, the Indian pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty has managed to do the same.

Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu has managed to come up with a splendid performance so far, as she has reached the quarterfinals of the French Open 2021. In the pre-quarters on Thursday night, she defeated Denmark's Line Christophersen in straight sets: 21-19, 21-9. The third-seeded Indian defeated the 24th seed Danish in 37 minutes.

Sindhu would now take on Thailand's Busanan Ongbamrungphan in the quarters on Friday. The eighth-seeded Thai defeated the unseeded Kirsty Gilmour of Scotland in straight sets: 21-15, 21-15. Notably, the Scot had suffered a defeat to the Indian during last week's Denmark Open.

Meanwhile, the Indian men's pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty also qualified for the quarters, defeating a fellow Indian duo of MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila in straight sets: 21-10, 21-19. The winning pair would now face off against Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik of Malaysia on Friday.

Also, in the men's singles, unseeded Lakshya Sen made his way into the quarters as he went on to defeat Loh Kean Yew of Singapore in straight sets: 21-17, 21-19. On Friday, he would be taking on Heo Kwang-hee of South Korea, who had beaten Wang Tzu-wei of Taiwan in straight sets: 21-10, 21-18.

However, Sourabh Verma suffered a defeat in his singles pre-quarters competition to Kenta Nishimoto of Japan, losing in straight sets: 12-21, 9-21. Meanwhile, Nishimoto would be up against fourth-seeded Chou Tien-chen of China in the quarters on Friday, as the latter defeated Brice Leverdez of France 21-16, 17-21, 21-19.
