Kohli survived a leg-before decision after successfully reviewing it. While he has traditionally not been good at it, it was the first time since 2017 that he got a decision overturned as a batsman. It was also only the second time India lost a Test after Kohli won the toss, with the other being in Australia last year. Also, it was his second innings defeat under Kohli, with the last being in 2018 against England as well.

Anderson claimed his 400th Test wicket at home, thus becoming only the second bowler after Muttiah Muralitharan (493) to do so.
Fewest by India after the fourth wicket
India could only manage 63 runs following the fourth wicket in this Test in both the innings. It was the second-fewest by India, with its fewest being 41 against Australia in 2016-17.
Joe Root gels as English Test skipper
It was Root's 27th win as Test skipper, thus making him the most successful English Test captain, going past Michael Vaughan (26).
