IPL 2022: MS Dhoni to play for Chennai Super Kings, affirms CEO Kasi Viswanathan

MS Dhoni helped Chennai Super Kings win its fourth IPL title, while it was also his fourth in the tournament, all coming with CSK. Meanwhile, CSK CEO has confirmed that Dhoni will continue playing for the side next season.

MS Dhoni proved why he is one of the most dominant skippers in the Indian Premier League (IPL), as he helped Chennai Super Kings (CSK) win its fourth title this term. Overall, it was Dhoni's fourth in the tournament, all of which came with CSK.

Meanwhile, fans are expecting him to continue with CSK in IPL 2022. Also, with the mega auction scheduled to take place sometime in January, fans expect CSK to retain the 40-year-old skipper.

In the same light, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has told Sportstar that he is highly sure of Dhoni continuing with the side in IPL 2022, while he is yet to speak to him about it. He also revealed that Dhoni took just a couple of minutes to brief the players about their roles in the side and kept the team meetings extremely short.

CSK was the first side to begin its camp in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), while Viswanathan revealed that it was Dhoni's idea to do so, which helped the team massively. He also recalled that the side had won four of its nine finals, besides terming 2018 the most special one since the group was making a comeback to the tournament after a couple of years of suspension.

Revealing the franchise's strategy for the upcoming mega auction, Viswanathan stated that the plans would be determined only after the clarity regarding the retention come in from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Furthermore, he also asserted that the team would do everything it could to retain the crown next term.
