David Warner had a poor performance in IPL 2021, as he is likely to be released by SunRisers Hyderabad. Meanwhile, he has confirmed that he will be putting his name in the auction pool for IPL 2022.

It was not a season to remember for David Warner in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. He endured a terrible season, managing to score just 195 runs in eight matches at an unconvincing average of 24.37 and a strike rate of 107.73, while he did score a couple of half-centuries. However, in the latter half of the tournament, he was entirely out of form.

While he lost the captaincy to Kane Williamson, he was compelled to have been dropped from the side. At a point, he was not even allowed to travel to the ground with the team and had to stay back in the hotel, while during the closing stages of the competition, he became a mere cheerleader, waving the SRH flag from the hospitality box.

As his future with the side remains uncertain, it now looks that he would not be retained by SRH ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, in all circumstances. Meanwhile, he has already confirmed that he would be putting his name in the auction pool as he looks to part ways with the Orange Army, the side he led to IPL glory in 2016.

Explaining further, he said that since the other team members were hitting the ball slightly better than him, the team preferred them. He added that sometimes, as a professional athlete, one needs to take it on his chin. However, he was amused that he was not allowed to be with the team and get drinks, which hit him like things were personal, while he still awaits the answers from SRH.
