Dhoni is one of the veterans in the tournament, who has been playing since its inception in 2008. He has been associated with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ever since, having represented Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) during the former's two-year suspension.

Be it with the bat or the gloves, Dhoni's 13-year association with the league has placed him in some of the unique record books. Meanwhile, there are more to come, as he could well script some tonight, against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Most sixes in T20s: Dhoni's routine of batting late gives him the license to go big right from the start. He has so far hit 298 sixes in his T20 career and needs a couple more to join the 300 list, after Rohit Sharma (368) and Suresh Raina (311).

Second-most IPL sixes: As far as hitting sixes is concerned, West Indian and Jamaican legend, Chris Gayle, is the undisputed king, having hit 324 so far. In the second spot is AB de Villiers with 218, while Dhoni is on 200. The CSK skipper needs seven more to surpass de Villiers and claim the second spot.

Seventh to score 4,500 runs: Kohli, Raina and Rohit are the only men to score 5,000 IPL runs. Although Dhoni is relatively far away, he could reach the landmark of 4,500 runs, as he is just 24 runs behind. Upon doing so, he would become the seventh batsman to achieve the feat in the tournament.

Most IPL catches: As for Dhoni's accomplishment with the gloves, he has, so far, claimed 99 catches in the tournament. Although claiming one more would make him the second man in the IPL to claim 100 catches, claiming five would also take him past leader Dinesh Karthik, who has gloved 103.
