Delhi Capitals has five COVID cases in its camp for IPL 2022. Meanwhile, DC's Wednesday clash against Punjab Kings will be played in Mumbai.
Delhi Capitals (DC) is having a disturbing time following the outbreak of COVID-19 in its camp. Three of its members have tested positive. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, its scheduled match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune will be played at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, a decision that the IPL Governing Council took on Tuesday.
DC suffered a scare on Monday morning when its team masseur and Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh tested COVID positive upon the Rapid Antigen Test and the RT-PCR test. The entire squad was immediately put into isolation, and regular tests were being conducted on them. The results of the second round of tests arrived Tuesday, as it has taken the total tally of DC's COVID cases to five.
Earlier, on Friday, DC's team physio Patrick Farhat tested COVID positive and has been in isolation since. As per the current IPL rules, the positive-tested person must remain isolated for seven days and re-enter the bubble upon two negative RT-PCR tests conducted 24 hours apart. In the meantime, the rule also suggested that a match can still go ahead with 12 players, including seven Indians and an overseas player.
The DC members to test COVID positive are:
1. Mr Patrick Farhat – Physiotherapist (April 15)
2. Mr Chetan Kumar - Sports Massage Therapist (April 16)
3. Mr Mitchell Marsh – Player (April 18)
4. Dr Abhijit Salvi – Team doctor (April 18)
5. Mr Akash Mane – Social Media Content team member (April 18)

"The COVID positive cases are under isolation and medical observation. They will be tested on Day 6 and 7 and subject to both the tests being negative they will be re-integrated into the Delhi Capitals bio-secured bubble. From April 16th onwards, the entire Delhi Capitals contingent has been put under a daily RT-PCR testing procedure. The 4th round of RT-PCR tests conducted on April 19th have returned negative. The Delhi Capitals contingent will undergo another round of RT-PCR testing on the morning of April 20th," the IPL added in its statement.
