England is off to a rocking start to the four-Test series against India for the Anthony de Mello Trophy. The opening Test was successfully held in Chennai, where the visitor notched up a 227-run win and drew first blood, while India has a task at hand in the remaining three Tests.

In what turned out to be a surprise, but a laudable performance from England, it trumped India by 227 runs on Day 5 of the opening Test for the Anthony de Mello Trophy, at the MA Chidambaram (Chepauk) Stadium in Chennai, on Tuesday. While England has drawn first blood, it has also produced some excellent records, as India has scripted some unwanted ones. Nevertheless, we take a look at all of it.

England produces a big win in AsiaAs England won by 227, it was its second-biggest win in Tests in Asia, besides being the biggest against India. Its record win in continent happens to be by 329 runs, against Bangladesh in 2003. It was also its sixth consecutive Test win in Asia and has the second most successive one after Australia (7).

India scripts a few unwanted onesWith this loss, India has now lost the most Tests at home against the particular side. It has now lost 14 Tests against England, along with Windies, in India. Also, Chennai has become India's second most vulnerable venue in the format, at home, having lost the joint second most Tests here, along with Mumbai (7). It has lost the most in Kolkata (9). It was also the side's fourth consecutive loss under skipper Virat Kohli, which is the latter's first. Meanwhile, it was also the first time in eight years that the top-four Indian batsmen have been bowled in a Test innings. Furthermore, this is the first time since 2017 that India has been bundled out in both innings of a home Test.

The unstoppable James AndersonAnderson was terrific in this game, having claimed a five-for. Interestingly, he has become deadly ever since he turned 30, as he has claimed the most wickets after 30 by a pacer in the format, of 343, going past the previous record of Courtney Walsh (341). He has also become the joint visiting player with most Test wins in India (4), along with Mark Boucher, Shane Warne and Jacques Kallis. He is also the oldest overseas player to win a Test in India, at 38 years & 194 days, after Lloyd (39 years & 105 days).

Joe Root becomes England's joint-most successful captainSince becoming the England captain, Root has registered 26 Test wins under his belt. As a result, he has equalled Michael Vaughan's feat and needs a win to become the all-time greatest for the side. He has also become England's most successful Test captain in Asia, winning six Tests, while overall, only Graeme Smith (8) and Lloyd (7) are ahead of him.
