ICC World T20 2021: Will England rush Ben Stokes' return? Chris Silverwood clarifies

Ben Stokes is out of cricketing action for the past two months after taking a break for mental health. Meanwhile, Chirs Silverwood has clarified if England would rush him back to return during the 2021 ICC World T20.

English all-rounder Ben Stokes raised a few eyebrows after taking an indefinite break from cricket, citing mental health concerns. As a result, he is missing out on the ongoing home Test series for the Pataudi Trophy against India.

Meanwhile, England will have an arduous task from next month, as it takes part in the ICC World T20 in the United Arab Emirates and Oman. While it looks to announce the squad soon, it is unsure regarding Stokes' participation in the tournament.

It has also been wondered if England would rush his comeback, given that he is an integral part of England's Twenty20 side. However, when England's head coach Chirs Silverwood was asked the same, he left it upon Stokes to decide his comeback, reports IANS.

During a virtual media session following the fourth Test, Silverwood stated that Stokes would be given all the time and support he needs. While he said he hadn't spoken to him, as he wants to provide him with enough space, some people interact with him and are in constant touch.

Although England would be pondering on his return, he would never be forced to do so. He added that his only concern is to make sure that Stokes is within the right frame of mind, while the other things would follow soon after.

England is a one-time champion of the tournament, having won it back in 2010, while it finished as the runner-up during the last edition, in 2016, to Windies. Stokes played a crucial role in England's title win during the 2019 ICC World Cup, and the side would be eager on having his services during the T20 mega-blockbuster.
