- India now has the worst win-loss ratio against NZ in ICC competitions, which is 0.333.
- It was the first time that India lost the opening two games of the tournament to date.
- It was India's ninth loss against Kiwis in the format, the joint-most against Australia and England.
Ish Sodhi love for India
- Sodhi claimed 2/17. It was his 18th wicket against India in the format, as he has become the most wicket-taker against the side in the format, going past Dushmanta Chameera, who had claimed 14.
- He also dismissed Virat Kohli, as it was the third time he had done so, becoming the first to do so in the format.

Rohit Sharma scripts a unqiue
Rohit hit a six off Adam Milne. Eventually, it was his 83rd six while batting first in the format, making him the most to shoot in the same, as he went past Martin Guptill, who has hit 82.
Match summary
NZ opted to bowl to win the toss, as India was off to a wretched start, losing wickets at regular intervals. It could manage just 110/6, with Ravindra Jadeja being the top scorer. In reply, Daryl Mitchell and Kane Williamson's dominating 72-run stand took the game away from India, and NZ won by eight wickets.
