Bishan Singh Bedi recovering well; shifted to private room from ICU

Bishan Singh Bedi happens to be a former Indian captain and a legendary spinner who played both Tests and One-Day Internationals. He had also managed Team India in 1990. He has a history of heart problems while he underwent bypass surgery last month.

Former Indian skipper and legendary spinner Bishan Singh Bedi seems to be ailing form some heart-related problems. Currently, he has been admitted to a private hospital in New Delhi, where he has been moved to a private room after being initially admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

The 74-year-old has a history of heart-related issues, while he had also undergone bypass surgery last month. Following the surgery, he also underwent the procedure to remove the blood clot just after.

"He had been shifted to a private room yesterday. He is fine now. Doctors will monitor him for a few more days," a source from the hospital told PTI.

Bedi has represented India in both Tests and One-Day Internationals between 1967-79, besides having claimed more than 270 international wickets. He also led the side in 22 Tests. Bedi also holds the record of being the most economical bowler in the 60-over ODIs.

Last year, Bedi had protested with the Delhi and District Cricket Association naming the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium after former president late Arun Jaitley. Bedi had also demanded his name to be removed from one of the stands at the stadium, as he also mulled legal action in case DDCA failed to do so.
