India records 12,729 fresh COVID cases, recovery rate stands at 98.23%

For the past 28 days, the daily increase in new coronavirus infections has been fewer than 20,000, and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for the past 131 days.

India on Friday recorded 12,729 instances, a 1.2% decrease from yesterday's total 12,885. In addition, the government reported 221 deaths in the past 24 hours. Kerala continues to be the state with the highest cases per day. In a single day, it recorded 7,545 cases and 136 Covid fatalities. With 945 Covid cases per day, neighbouring Tamil Nadu was the second-most populous southern state. Andhra Pradesh came in second with 301 instances, followed by Karnataka with 261 cases. The five largest states, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar, reported no Covid fatalities.

The World Health Organization gave Covaxin an Emergency Use Listing this week, which means that other nations will now recognise the'made-in-India' vaccine, and Indians who received the injection would no longer need to self-quarantine or face limitations while travelling overseas.
