India records 12,514 new COVID-19 cases, active cases lowest in 248 days

According to figures by the health ministry, the death toll has risen to 4,58,437, including 251 new deaths.

According to Union Health Ministry statistics published on Monday, India's overall count of COVID-19 cases grew to 3,42,85,814. In contrast, active cases fell to 1,58,817, the lowest in 248 days, with 12,514 persons testing positive for coronavirus in a day. According to figures by the health ministry, the death toll has risen to 4,58,437, including 251 new deaths.

For the past 24 days, the daily increase in new coronavirus infections has been fewer than 20,000, and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for the past 127 days. The number of current cases is 0.46 per cent of overall infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate is 98.20 per cent.

The active COVID-19 caseload has fallen by 455 cases in the previous 24 hours. The total number of doses administered in the country as part of the nationwide COVID-19 immunisation campaign has topped 106.31 crores. The daily positivity rate was calculated to be 1.42 per cent. It has been less than 2% over the previous 28 days. The weekly positive rate was 1.17 per cent as well. According to the government, it has remained below 2% for the previous 38 days.

So far, the country has reported 4,58,437 deaths, including 1,40,216 in Maharashtra, 38,082 in Karnataka, 36,116 in Tamil Nadu, 31,681 in Kerala, 25,091 in Delhi, 22,900 in Uttar Pradesh, and 19,141 in West Bengal. The government emphasised that comorbidities were responsible for more than 70% of the fatalities.

On October 31, the daily positive rate was 1.42 percent, with 881,379 samples tested for Covid-19. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) reports that a total of 609,201,294 samples have been examined to far.
