As per the reports, Apple iPhone 12 cost 21 per cent more to produce than iPhone 11 because of it's recent updated features, including 5G elements. The iPhone 12's Bill of Materials (BOM) shows $431.

A report stated by Counterpoint Research said, "Assuming a 38% mmWave mix, the blended materials cost for the iPhone 12 with 128GB NAND flash is nearly $415, a 21% increase over its predecessor. Application processor, 5G baseband, display and 5G RF components represent the major areas of the cost increase."

The fact that makes its manufacturing so costly is because of its new features, such as, OLED screen instead of LED, the 5G components and the Apple A14 Bionic chipset is also the first 5nm chip. This new chipset supposedly has 11.8 billion transistors which are 39% more than the predecessor A13.

iPhone 12 gets its elements from various companies, like, memory components from Samsung, Toshiba, whereas LPDDR4X RAM from Micron, SK Hynix. On one hand, the camera elements are taken from Sony, LG, Sharp and on the other, Broadcom, NXP supplies wireless connectivities and touch controls.

This new smartphone also gets its supplies from other companies including Cirrus Logic, Goertek, Knowles and others for different facilities, as per the report suggested.
