Mamata claimed that she had been pushed by four or five people while she was going to sit in her vehicle in Nandigram in East Midnapore following which she complained of chest pain.

Mamata was unable to walk properly after the incident and was shifted by her security guards from the front seat to the back seat.

Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress has deferred its manifesto release scheduled for today.

'Election Commission must take responsibility'

Mamata's ministers blamed the Election Commission for the alleged attack on Mamata Banerjee.

They alleged that the Election Commission arbitrarily removed the state Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) and then the police DG.

The TMC is expected to approach the polling body and submit a representation in this regard.

The EC, on its part, has sought a report on the incident.

Opposition calls it a 'political drama'

The Bharatiya Janata Party has claimed that the Mamata was trying to brand a simple accident as a political conspiracy.

While BJP National General Secretary Kailash Vijayavargiya said that Mamata had security cover to prevent such an incident and that the pre-planned conspiracy is just a tactic to gain sympathy.

He even called for the probe into the incident to be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
