Bengaluru: Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg has picked two players who can be standout performers in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) in the UAE.
IPL will be played in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah from September 19 to November 10. Defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) will face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the opener in Abu Dhabi.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Hogg, a former IPL player, picked Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) spinner Kuldeep Yadav and MI’s Suryakumar Yadav are the ones to watch out for this season.
"I think Kuldeep Yadav, he got only four wickets last year at an average of 70. He went at 8.33 runs per over for the tournament and he will be disappointed with that. He has worked hard in the off-season mentally, physically and working on his skills. He will be back and he will be a force to be reckoned with in this IPL," Hogg who has previously mentored Kuldeep, said.
"And, Suryakumar Yadav from the Mumbai Indians. Yes the Mumbai Indians have got a lot of depth, but this particular batsman is going to have a standout year and he is going to be a headache for opposition teams," he added.
On why he chose these two players, he reasoned, "I could have gone with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, MS Dhoni — all the big names but it is not all about them. You have got to have a look at the youngsters who are coming through or are not so big names."
