Bengaluru: Former Australian captain Ian Chappell has revealed the name of the "best cricketer" that he has ever seen. And, it is not Sir Don Bradman.
Chappell, one of the most respected voices in cricket, was talking on Sony Ten’s “Pit Stop” when he was asked to name the prototype for the perfect 50-over cricketer. The Australian legend picked one name who he considers as the “perfect cricketer” and “best cricketer” that he has ever seen on the cricket field.

“You are asking about the prototype for the perfect 50-over cricketer, I will give you the prototype for the perfect cricketer, for any form of the game, Garry Sobers. No problem at all. Easily, the best cricketer that I have ever seen. And, I am sure, when I go to my grave I will be muttering that as I pitch the tent,” Chappell said in the interview on Facebook, from Sydney.

The 83-year-old Sobers is considered to be the greatest all-rounder in cricket. The left-hander played 93 Tests and one ODI for the West Indies between 1954 and 1974. He scored 8,032 runs and claimed 235 wickets in Test cricket.
In 1968, Sobers became the first batsman in history to hit six consecutive sixes in an over. He achieved the feat in a first-class match, playing for Nottinghamshire against Glamorgan in Swansea in the English County Championship. Malcolm Nash was the unfortunate bowler.
