Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh were under fire from netizens after the Indian duo supported former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi's foundation in fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)
Bengaluru: Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh and veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh faced heavy criticism from netizens after the duo pledged support to ex-Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi’s foundation in fight against coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

As India, Pakistan and many countries across the world continue to battle against the deadly coronavirus, cricketers have been supporting for relief works. Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli, limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma, Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan and several others have contributed to ‘Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund’ (PM CARES Fund) and various states’ chief minister’s relief funds.

In Pakistan, Afridi’s foundation Shahid Afridi Foundation is seeking donations to help people in these difficult times. Several former Pakistan cricketers have lauded Afridi’s efforts.
On Twitter, Yuvraj posted a video message asking people to donate to Afridi’s foundation. He wrote, “These are testing times, it’s time to lookout for each other specially the ones who are lesser fortunate. Lets do our bit, I am supporting @SAfridiOfficial & @SAFoundationN in this noble initiative of covid19. Pls donate on http://donatekarona.com #StayHome @harbhajan_singh (sic).”
Afridi replied to this tweet and thanked the Indian cricketers. “Thank you for all you support-both yourself & my brother @harbhajan_singh are huge pillars of support; this bond we have shows love & peace transgresses borders when it comes to humanity especially. Best wishes to you with your noble endeavours with @YOUWECAN #DonateKaroNa (sic).”
