Odisha becomes first state to extend lockdown till April 30

The lockdown to curb COVID-19 spread in Odisha will be extended till April 30, Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik announced today.
Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has decided to extend the lockdown period in the entire state to April 30 to curb the spread of coronavirus. The state government also recommended that the Centre follow the same for the whole of India.

The decision of extending the lockdown was announced after the state Cabinet meeting through video conference. Patnaik also requested the Centre not to resume train and air services till April 30. Schools and educational institutions would remain closed till June 17, he tweeted with a video message.
Odisha has reported 42 COVID-19 cases so far. One person has died in the state due to the disease.

Lockdown likely to be extended beyond April 14 in India?
India may extend the ongoing national lockdown, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told lawmakers on Wednesday. The final decision on extending the 21-day lockdown that is set to end on April 14 will be taken after a meeting with all chief ministers on April 11, leaders who attended the meeting said.
