'For all sections...' PM Modi lauds Nirmala Sitharaman & co for Budget 2023

Reacting to the Union Budget 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded FM Nirmala Sitharaman and her team for the annual budget. He said the government has taken several steps to empower the middle class and ensure ease of living. "We have reduced tax-rate & have given relief accordingly," he added. Calling the Union Budget 2023-24 ‘historical’, PM Modi said, “this budget strengthens the marginalised section of our society.” “I congratulate the Finance Minister for this budget announcement,” he added.

PM Modi said, "Those toiling traditionally through their hands for the country, 'Vishvakarma' are the creators of this country. For the first time scheme related to training and support for 'Vishvakarma' has been brought in the budget."

Elaborating on the Budget 2023-24, he said that this budget is for a sustainable future further encouraging green energy, green growth, green infrastructure, and green jobs. "We have focused on technology and new economy in the budget. The government has taken several steps to make the lives of women, in rural and urban areas, easy. Women's self-help groups will further enhance them. Special savings scheme will be started empowering women in households."

The Finance Minister announced that the government will spend Rs15,000 crore on a mission to provide tribal people with safe housing, sanitary conditions, access to drinking water, and electricity. This is in addition to increasing the tax rebate for individual taxpayers from up to Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh per year.

Other social welfare initiatives include boosting the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana's contribution by 66% to Rs 79,000 crore and providing one crore farmers with support to switch to natural farming.
