A three-storey building folded like a pack of cards into the ground in Guntur on Saturday. The site of the collapse was near the Mani Hotel Centre on Nandivelugu Road. The building collapse is suspected to be as a result of work being carried out in the underground drainage system below.
Luckily, the inmates of the building had been evacuated a few days ago as the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation had ordered to demolish parts of the building for road widening purposes.
At about 4 pm on Saturday, the building came down as locals looked on. Local residents say that the tenants had been complaining about the building shaking.
