Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced a grant of Rs 800-crore for building concrete houses for the poor in Nandyal – a constituency, which is soon to face by-elections.

The CM said that the construction work has already begun for ‘NTR Nagar’ project in Nandyal town. On Thursday, Naidu held a teleconference with all the officials and public servants regarding the building of concrete houses to the poor.

He later announced a major grant for Nandyal of Rs 800 crore for the construction of the NTR Nagar project. He said that the land value of 120 acres allotted for the construction of houses in the three areas of the city would itself cost around Rs 250 crores.

The subsidy given to the householders is Rs 400 crores. The construction of roads, drinking water, electricity, parks and other infrastructure for those areas would amount to Rs 150 crores.

The CM also ordered the construction of NTR Nagars in all constituencies in every city where concrete houses will be built for the poor. It is interesting to note that before March no projects were planned for the town. The by-election was necessitated following the sudden death of sitting legislator Nagi Reddy on March 12.
