Former chief secretary and Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Brahmin Welfare Corporation IYR Krishna Rao was sacked unceremoniously by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Did Rao get himself sacked?
This question is doing the rounds in Andhra Pradesh as Rao had openly criticised the ways of TDP government in Andhra Pradesh. In fact, Rao himself had advised Naidu to start a committee for the welfare of Brahmins and make him the Chairman to woo the Brahmin voters.
But Rao is said to have neglected the TDP members while conducting the Brahmin Committee meetings, whereas surprisingly the community members from YSR Congress were informed much before.
Sources also say that Rao is interested in playing a bigger role in politics and is thinking of contesting in the 2019 Assembly elections, speculated Primepost. Rao is most likely eyeing at Vijayawada Assembly Constituency, where there is a strong Brahmin base. From 1962 to 1999 Brahmin’s won the election in the constituency.
However, it is also told that recently, Rao was seen being close to the YSR party members. He even defended this act by saying, “When Naidu of TDP can meet Lagadapati Rajagopal, why shouldn't I meet Kona Raghupathi, who is a Brahmin? He is a local MLA and protocol demands that he be invited to any official programme in his area," Krishna Rao told Sakshi.com.
Rao had said that he was trying to meet and talk to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu from six months, but he was not given the permission. Tired of repeated pleas, Rao is said to have taken the decision to make his anger over TDP and CM Naidu public through his FB posts, which eventually led to his removal from the post.
Sources also said that Rao was not ready to favour TDP members for the benefits from the Brahmin Welfare Corporation. This led to TDP MLAs complaining about Rao to CM Naidu. This might have prevented from Naidu giving an ear to Rao.
However, Rao’s closeness with YSR Congress is also evident. Though nothing is confirmed yet, the chances of him joining YSR cannot be ruled out completely.
