Communist Party of India National Secretary Kankanala Narayana, who lost three relatives, lashed out at the incompetence of the Andhra Pradesh Government and said that he held the government responsible for the deaths of his kin.
Narayana lost three of his relatives from his wife’s side in the tragedy. His wife’s brother’s wife, daughter-in-law and granddaughter were among those who died.
In a statement, Narayana on Monday hit out at AP CM Chandrababu Naidu for blinding the public about the real situation of the state. Narayana demanded Rs 25 lakhs ex gratia to each of the family who lost their loved ones in the tragedy.
Chandrababu on Monday during the Assembly session announced that there were 45 tourists in the boat during the time of its capsize out of which 19 lost their lives and 21 were saved by NDRF team. Rescue efforts were still being made to find the missing victims.
