Andhra Pradesh to get Rs 990 crore worth CCTV surveillance system

Synopsis

A committee has been formed to choose an agency to work on a cloud-based IP CCTV surveillance system.  Under this project, as many as 14,200 new CCTV cameras will be installed.

 

On April 3, the Andhra Pradesh state government formed a tender approval committee via issuing a number of orders. The task of this committee is to choose an agency to finalise design, implementation, and manage a cloud-based IP CCTV surveillance system. 

 

The estimated cost for this system is ₹990 crore, and the net cost estimation is ₹690 crore. For this, separate budgetary provisions will be provided, reported a leading daily. 

 

Under this project, as many as 14,200 new CCTV cameras will be installed and also integrate 3,800 existing cameras on a state-wide surveillance platform. This will help in effective policing, traffic management, crime control and detection, and also real-time monitoring of cleanliness and other civic issues.
