A man in Tamil Nadu killed and ate a poisonous snake to keep coronavirus at bay.

The disturbing video of 50-year-old Vadivel eating a deadly snake has emerged on social media. He claimed that reptiles are good antidotes to coronavirus, which is why he was eating it. However, the man was arrested by the forest department near Vadipatti on Thursday.

Tamil Nadu's Perumalpatti village, Vadivel, also fined Rs 7500 for harming the animal. The snake identified as a common krait was captured in a field, killed and eaten by the man.

A report suggested that Vadivel was in an inebriated state at the time of the incident. Luckily, the man did not bite the snake's venom glands, which could have been toxic.

These types of fake news are circulating on various platforms during the coronavirus pandemic.
