Exclusive: BBMP, Bengaluru Police to get rid of junk, dump unclaimed vehicles in outskirts

Due to a joint move of the BBMP and Bengaluru Police, residents in many areas of the city can heave a sigh of relief. In a week’s time, junk vehicles which have made police stations an eyesore will be shifted to a land allotted on the outskirts of the city.

Bengaluru: In a major development towards restoring the city's image, BBMP and the police department have joined hands to remove unserviceable and stolen vehicles at 145 police stations and shift it to a land allotted by the BBMP at S Bingipura and Jakkarayanakere.

According to mayor Gangambike Mallikarjun, first, the land was transferred to the police department and under the mayor's grant of Rs 5 crore, the land was levelled and fenced. In a week’s time, police will start the shifting of vehicles in stations in Bengaluru's core area and will later cover other stations.
