The Maharashtra government has extended the current lockdown-like restrictions in the state till June 1.

Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte informed said that the restrictions would remain in force till 7 am on June 1.

Milk collection, transport and processing may be allowed without restrictions. However, its retail sale is allowed subject to restrictions imposed on shops dealing with essential items or through home delivery.

The state government has also added new restrictions in the latest order.

Additionally, not more than two people will be allowed to travel in cargo carriers. If the cargo carriers are originating from outside Maharashtra, they will be allowed with a negative RT-PCR test report and will be valid for seven days.

The order also notes that personnel engaged in airport and port services and needed for movement of cargo related to medicines or equipment required for Covid management will be allowed to travel in local, mono and metro services.

Maharashtra is among the states that account for 82.51 per cent of the total active cases across the country.
