Opera Neon is a sneak peek into the future of desktop browsers

While nothing much has been happening when it comes to innovation with desktop browsers, Opera has decided to shake up things with the Neon experimental browser for Windows and Mac. Neon is different, and for some, it may look weird. But, there is no denying that it is the future of desktop browsers.

Firstly, it isn't your usual browser. At a glance, you will first notice the missing task bar. Then there are bubbles on the right that serves as a new Tabs page. Every tab is the form of a bubble on the right side instead of the top of the browser page. Your desktop wallpaper will be seen as the background of the browser. You will also find a huge search bar that also serves as the address bar.

The sidebar on the left accommodates all the controls such as audio, video playback and so on. The sidebar on the left also has the panel to access downloads. It also lets you create two browser tabs placed side-by-side in the same window.  It has floatable windows that make multi-tasking easy. Videos can be popped out into their own adjustable, movable window so you can keep watching your favourite YouTube or Vimeo channels as you browse.

Now, it's just a concept browser and not replacing the Opera browser, at least not yet. However, those who want to give it a try can download it from here.
