In an exclusive interview with Asianet News at the 9th edition of the Carnegie Global Tech Summit, Australian Ambassador for Cyber Affairs and Critical Technology, Brendan Dowling, lauds India’s leadership in hosting the upcoming Global AI Summit. He highlights India's inclusive approach to artificial intelligence and its pivotal role in addressing developmental challenges in the Global South.

Further speaking about regulatory framework for Artificial Intelligence, Sood said that idea is to adapt a techno-legal framework, which will be sector specific to not "kill" innovation. He emphasised that generic rules and regulations can kill innovation, adding that the government want to promote AI and at the same time make it safe.

Earlier, speaking at a panel discussion at the Summit, Debjani Ghosh delved into the AI landscape in India and how the country can leverage the opportunities this emerging technology has to offer.

Nilekani emphasized that AI adoption will not be easier and will require the same effort, if not more. "AI doesn't mean it's going to be easier to do. It's going to take the same effort, if not more effort," he said.

Debjani Ghosh is a distinguished fellow at the NITI Aayog and the chief architect of the NITI Frontier Tech Hub. With a career spanning over 28 years, she has held pivotal leadership roles--she was the first woman to lead Intel's South Asia operations and the first female president of Nasscom (April 2018 to November 2024).
